Certifying Sustainable Business Practices
Sustainable Management in the 21st century
The global economy‘s core challenge for the future is to balance economic success with environmental protection and social concerns. Legislators, consumers and the general public are calling for greater sustainability in business. Their calls have been heard: A growing number of companies have promised to produce their products sustainably or only use sustainably produced raw materials. But they have been unable to present a comprehensive, universal certificate to verify that they are acting responsibly. Until now. ISIS GmbH has stepped into the breach with the „International Standard for Integrated Sustainability“ – the only standard worldwide that addresses all aspects of sustainability along the entire value chain.
International Standard for Integrated Sustainability
Now, companies can obtain a single certificate to verify their commitment to conserving natural resources and respecting social, environmental and occupational safety issues. ISIS is the first comprehensive, generally applicable sustainability standard developed on basis of practical experience. Originally designed for food and feed, it lends itself to many different products and covers the entire value chain. ISIS GmbH is supported by an advisory board comprising business and social welfare experts. The board is independent and provides the expertise needed to continuously improve the standard.
Fishmeal as a pilot product
Initially intended for certifying fishmeal, it quickly became clear that the integrated ISIS system could be adapted for many other food and feed products. A universal, globally valid sustainability standard for natural resources was thus created. Fishmeal will however remain the pilot product for the introduction of ISIS.
